The book is a combination of brief journal entries, notes of battles fought and letters written to loved ones. The letters are the most interesting part of the book. It is a dictation of verbage and nothing is expounded upon. At times, it would be nice if the author put in some historical facts or maps or something. The letters he writes to mother and his aunt, tell a story of a soldier missing home or any contact with his community. He feels forgotten by is family because he does not get many letters. Here is a brave soldier, fighting, starving, nearly naked, and only asking (whinning) for some one to write to him and let him know of his beloved Marrietta, GA and a sence of normal life. The information was interesting but not arranged well by the author and just a bit ho hum to read.Read full review
