225 Garden, Landscape and Project Plans is an excellent resource for experienced gardeners, designers and landscape architects looking for new and different design ideas. The pages are high quality, heavy paper, with a sturdy cover to sustain constant reference. Home Planners' 225 designs are separated into useful categories of backyard, border, front yard, and individual gardens. Several pages of designs are geared toward specific residential architectural styles. There are many different designers noted within each category and each plan is well thought out and beautifully rendered. This book goes further to offer designs for architectural elements such as: gazebos, sheds, bridges, etc. Various deck designs are also a welcome addition in this book. Since no specific plant materials are mentioned in association with each design, this is not a good resource for beginning gardeners or designers. In order to see the plant materials associated with Home Planners designs, you need to individually purchase each plan depicted in the book. Even this process of purchasing the plans - given as a matrix of pricing and plan options, would be somewhat difficult for beginners. However, professionals and well-educated gardeners should be able to readily visualize appropriate plantings simply from viewing each design-plan's renderings. While I would rate this book 5/5 for professionals, I have given a rating of 3/5 since it is only moderately useful to beginning gardeners.Read full review
