I always wanted to try a Callaway Driver and the price was right at 89.00 for a club in open box condition. The Hyper X 10.5* has the Fujikura e360 fit on shaft regular flex,it has a low-mid trajectory and distance is what you would expect with my 95-100 mph swing speed. I hit my Integra Quadratic 10.5* with a Aldila DVS 65 regular flex shaft as comparison,it out preformed the Hyper X in trajectory with a high-mid trajectory and about 10 yards in total distance, dispersion was about the same neither was better or worse, the Fujikura e360 felt slightly stiffer with less feel then the Aldila DVS. I just ordered a DVS 65 Regular Flex shaft for the Hyper X and will have it Installed as soon as I get it and I'm sure this Callaway will wake up with a shaft that matches my needs. This is a very nice club and I'm sure that it will work for almost every golfer if your swing speed is in the lower Regular flex range look for the R2 flex and I think you will be very happy.Read full review
I wanted an oversized head driver and have a full set of Callaway X-14 irons. I prefer Callaway over other brands because I like the weight of the shaft and heads. This driver was comfortable, easy to swing, and has a wide sweet spot. It was what I expected. I'm learning to get use to the "ting" sound it makes at contact. I believe I may be getting about 10 - 15 yards more distance than with my old driver.
Good, average driver. I'm just learning the game of golf so my opinion doesn't mean much but it's a better driver than the cheapie that I had before. Biggest complaint is it sounds like you're beating a trash can to death. Really loud and others have said the same thing. I've had others hit it who have played a lot more golf than I have and they've all thought it was a good driver. I had an inch cut off the shaft and it helped with my slice problem but I still do it some. I wouldn't call it the most forgiving driver ever but for all I know it's very forgiving and I just suck.
I only started playing golf 1.5 year ago. So, I am still looking for the driver that is right for me. I bought the Hyper X because that is the club I was originally fitted for. I was fitted for an 11* driver, but with a 10.5* driver, I was getting too much loft. So, when I saw the 98 Hyper X, I decided to try it to see if it would improve my driving distance. It did and that is wahat I like most. The only thing I do not like about the club is, it is not a fade club. If I do not adjust for a slice, I will slice the ball out of the field of play. Over all, I like the club, but will be looking for a 9.5* fade hyper X driver.
Just bought this club and i read many reviews about how it cures slices....well i wouldnt say it cured my slice but nows its just a slight fade. I still cant shape my shots very well with the club but that might be my skill level. Im about a 10-12 handicap. Doenst take much to hit this club though its weighted very well and swings smooth. I like the sound and feel on impact as well. Im hitting the club about 300-310 yds consistantly. Overall i would give the club a 4 out of 5.
