I wanted a decent quality handgun scope for a .22 LR that I would use for hunting when I take my daughter in the woods. I choose a fix power as there is less to go wrong, they can be lighter and a fix power tends to be more robust (knocking it about and reciol have less an effect). When I got the scope it was in good order. I do not think Simmons made today are of as high quality as in past years but light transmission is more that adequate for Squirrels. Adjustment knobs are positive and easy to use; clarity is more than needed as well. If I had to do it again I might go for a 2X as the field of view is limited with 4x and target aquisition is very slow. Over all for the money, it is a great deal!
I don't think you can beat these scope's for what they cost, they have good eye relief for hand gun , I have bought some that my arm's needed to be a foot longer, and wasted my money on used one's any way, that being said I just have on 22 lr., so as far as big hand gun's I don't know, have it on s&w victory, and buckmark, and off a rest can shoot 3 in. groups at 50 yards, just good cheap fun.
