I got my first set of runes(and only) as I felt drawn to them. After purchasing them this book popped up as a good companion to have, so I purchased it. Turns out the runes I bought were the ones referred to in the book! This book is great as it goes into some history of the runes and their use. I would recommend this book as it isn't over your head it is simple to understand. Makes it easy to enjoy your runes! Oh and the last question about whether or not it is compelling well that depends on your definition, it isn't an action adventure. However it does attend the subject matter.

It's what I was looking for

The book isn't bad, and the rune info is accurate. It's not a hard read. But it mixes a bunch of ecclectic pagan/wiccan things into the lore that don't belong there and have zero basis in the norse lore (example: mimir's well as a metaphor for the goddess). so not bad, but not great.
Exactly what I was looking for. Good quality. Highly recommend them.
