Even beyond the "Nostalgia" factor, this DVD is highly entertaining and fun to watch as a family, young and old. The Legend and Legacy of Davy Crockett has stood the test of time, like a folk hero, always the "Good Guy", honest and heroic during a different time in history. These two full length movies are compilations and edited story lines from the Original Disney Davey Crockett TV Series The story lines are simple, clean, no profanity and great for a little history lesson for kids, (and adults) Especially Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier. And when Davey teams up with Mike Fink, The King of the River...Well, that's how Legends are born!!! I highly recommend this Davey Crockett Series to anyone and everyone.

The first part of the movie was not good at all, I was not pleased it stayed in a frozen picture for awhile but then when we got threw that the rest was ok. We usually do not send back items, it was a special childhold memory for my husband and he did really enjoy what we could see. Thank you Linda

Excellent quality movies. I'm assuming they have been remastered because they are better quality and playing DVD than most new releases I buy from the Video/Music conglomerates. The story line is simple, clean, no profanity and great for a little history lesson for kids, (and adults) Especially Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier. It starts out briefly campy with Davy supposedly trying to grin down a bear. Then it starts getting real good. It shows how President Andrew Jackson sent Crockett on a fools errand so Jackson could pass the legislation taking Indian lands, eventually leading to the trail of tears. Jackson was unable to pass the legislation until Davy quit Washington and went to his death at the Alamo. It also gives factual information leading up to the Alamo siege and took no literary license to fill in unknowns such as exactly how Crockett died. So you don't end up with some Hollywood "junk history." Very well done for it's time. Yes, you will see a couple of fight punches missed but remember they weren't shooting with today's dozen or so cameras. I haven't watched River Pirates or the cartoon I think they actually showed in the theater back then. If I were to do it over I'd start with the cartoon, River Pirates then ending with Wild Frontier. It would be just like they showed it in the theaters back then. Great buy and a good nostalgic purchase.Read full review
If you grew up when Disneyland and the Disney television show first started, then you know that the Davy Crockett movies with Fess Parker and Buddy Epsen were the basis for the success of the program and Disneyland as well. Even though I have these movies in VCR tape format, one cannot enjoy them and reminisce about one's youth without having the movies in CD format. Once more we can cruise down the river as Davy races Mike Fink. Once more we can watch Davy as a politician when he realizes he has been outwitted by Andy Jackson. Once more we can see Davy fight it out at the Alamo. This is the best way I know to relive the past and recall the enjoyment of Sunday night as the World of Disney came on television and the entire family watched and enjoyed the show. The acting is very professional. The story-lines are exciting and well written. Anything Disney has to be great. If you want entertainment and joy, then I strongly recommend the Davy Crockett movies.Read full review
Great nostalgic Walt Disney film that took American kids on a Davy Crockett craze during the mid-fifties. There were huge sales of Crockett coon skin caps, buckskin jackets, etc. He was an American Hero.
