Purchased a bulk amount of books and couldn’t be happier. Only thing I have to complain about is the barcode stickers that were placed on the spine of every single book—even the ones that were raw paper hardcovers which ripped off the title lettering on the books. Plastic based stickers would have been a better choice as they wouldn’t have ripped or left residue as much. Shipping was free media mail, and it did take 2 weeks to get to me, but I expected that.

The novel is chatty and fun. Reading it seems to be a must before visiting Savannah. However, the cheap price was not worth it with missing pages for the whole section where the murder takes place. I have not finished it yet to see uf there is any other issue.

Truman Capote coined the word "faction," that is, writing fact in a style of fiction. His classic IN COLD BLOOD was testimony of this new literary form. Though John Berendt, author of MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL, may not be a disciple of Capote, he certainly adhered to that norm while writing 99 and 44/100ths fact in a book which has fictionesque qualities. Suspense, intrigue, guile, jealousy, and humor run throughout the book making for a delightful read. A surprise ending? Let the reader weigh in on that score.

A interesting historical novel about Savannah GA. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a melancholy insight into the culture and history of this iconic Southern City. A must read for anyone planning a visit to Savannah.
