I generally like the Deens, and this book is no exception. Simple, good food that can be prepared quickly. I especially like the section with "Jack's Favorites" -- kid-friendly foods that are fairly (but only fairly) healthy. If I have a complaint, it's that there are too many "blah" recipes -- quick food doesn't have to be either fried or bland. Several of the recipes are VERY greasy, too, and I don't like that (I know it's the Deens, but still...). I got this book for less than $5, and I wouldn't want to pay more than that for it -- it's OK, but not great.
Another good Deen lads book for those who are new to cooking. Easy, affordable and health-conscious meals that take practically no thought other than buying the ingredients.

The recipes I have tried are simple, easy, and quick to prepare, but are delicious! I would definitely recommend this cookbook for someone who has limited time for meal prep but wants home cooked food.

I just got this cookbook over the weekend and I think it is safe to say this is my favorite book by Jamie and Bobby. As I sat down to look through it, I felt the southern charm. The family stories of their own fast-paced lives makes it so easy to relate to our own on-the-go busy schedules. The Deen brothers have compiled a wonderful selection of down home cooking recipes that I am so anxious to try in my own home. They seem to be easy to follow and use many of the ingredients most will have in their own pantries. I can't wait to get started!
I really liked this cookbook. It has alot of good recipes and I collect there books. Very good pictures and easy to follow recipes.
