This is the sequel to Die Hard. This time, John McClane is waiting for his wife to arrive on a flight from LA. He is in DC at what is supposed to be National Airport. It is Christmas again and it is snowing and miserable. In addition to all this, the local Airport Police are about as dumb as a sack of hammers and have just has McClane's car towed. The Chief of police is a textbook example of stupid, and totally believes that he is just the smartest cop in the world. There is a major international criminal being transported to this airport and is scheduled to arrive in a matter of hours. (Sort of like Noriega back in the 80's) McClane sees a familiar face in the packed crowd and recognizes him as a ex-military Colonel turned mercenary. He witnesses him and several others entering a secured area and when he challenges them a firefight results. McClane caps one of them and tries to bring the Police Chief in on it, but is ridiculed, because the guy is an idiot. Before long, all airport functions of radar, ILS, approach and departure control are taken over by these mercenaries. They make it impossible to land and control air traffic. Other airports in the region are closed due to weather and all of the instruments at this airport are being mishandled by these mercs. As airplanes continue to stack up and run low on fuel, a major crisis is building. Soon, planes are going to be falling out of the sky. After the typical John McClane battles and firefights, he single-handedly kills all of the bad guys and saves the day. This was a pretty good movie, with a lot of action - maybe a little too much action. It was very enjoyable, but I don't think it was as good as the original. Bruce Willis was able to accomplish all of this without losing his shoes this time.Read full review
This action film is so good, it ranks equal to the original. Totally enjoyable, entertainment witrh characters you love to hate. I only question the casting of the lead bad guy, simply not creepy enough. Unfortunately, no one is going to match the evil/class of the Alan Richtman performance of the first movie, but the plot twists and action sequences make this a top flight winner, period. A word of caution: expectations were set very high for Part Three (With a Vengeance) by this film, and the third installment was so bad the franchise almost died a swift death. 2007's LIVE FREE DIE HARD matches Part Two shot for shot. You can't beat McClane--just DIE HARD!
All is great. THANKS
