This book deals with a small boy's question to his mom asking "Why doesn't Grampa come back?". Grandfather had passed away, and his mother thought he was too young to remember his grandfather. Lew recalls his memories of his grandfahter from his perspective of a small toddler in arms. Talking with his mom he learns of his grandfather's death & comfort & memories. The book is full of beautiful illustrations, and such tender & innocent memories. I remember reading this book to my son shortly after his grandfather passed away. To this day I can't read it without tearing up. I highly recommend it. Charlotte Zolotow's books should be a part of every child's life.
