I worked the great lakes freighters for two seasons on ships quite similar to the Fitz. I have even passed over the area where the ship now lies. I have often thought about the final moments of the crew. I have read several books about the Edmund Fitzgerald, each of course had their own theory about the Mighty Fitzs' final hours and death. I think Michael Schumacher descibed the final moments as accurately as anyone could that was not there. I got chills as I read the few pages that cover the end of the Fitzgeralds career and enterance into Great Lakes legend. This book is a must for any boatnerd or maritime history buff. The Great Lakes region has thousands of shipwreck stories, but the tale of the Fitzgerald and her crew will stand out for generations to come. The Mighty Fitz is very well written and captivating, I did not want to put it down once I read the first few pages.Read full review
Very interesting account of this tragedy. I was wondering how the author was going to tell the story with no survivors, but he pulled it off!
