This book, by a famous child care author was my bible when I was expecting our daughter and for the first year or so. The information is excellent and the point of view is baby centered.

Good book with lots of info and a pretty good index. Like that author has a PhD in psychology. I think it's a good source, but wouldn't use this as my only source; I'd want another source that's more up-to-date.

This book just doesn't go out of "style"! I used it when my children were little and just bought it for my daughter who's a new mother. Leach's approach to understanding and raising babies/children is so full of common sense and not connected to fancy theories that come and go. She clearly loves babies and wants them to be treated that way. She's also very mindful of the stresses and pleasures of parenthood and treats them with respect. Leach has a great way of calming parents so that they not be overwhelmed, yet clearly laying out signposts along the way that may require extra attention. A great book.
This book is very informative especialy if you are a first time mom. The information that is given really helps you understand some of the issues that you might have to deal with in takig care of your infant and as they grow. Sometimes you can become overwhelmed with all the input that is given to you by other people, however with this book it explains and answers your questions in a very plain and easy manner. All I can say is that I am glad that I took the advice of one of my friends and purchased this book.
This book is incredibly insightful.
