Years ago I had a large blue paperback version of this book by Lamsa. It explained the use of Aramaic in the NT and explained the idioms of that language which are often embedded i parables and allegories, which can easily confuse a reader bent on literal interpretation. The version I had explained all that. As Anthony Burgess said: " ..translation is not just a problem of selecting the right words, but of making an entire culture understandable." * The big book I had presented that problem and dealt with it. This one, however, ( the Holman version ) does not. It just lists single verses with a one line explanation. Sometimes going to a B&M store where you can see what you're getting is preferable. * Well, that's more or less what he said.
