The Jekyll & Hyde musical was much better than I had expected. One would think that trying to make a musical out of something as dark and overdone as Jekyll & Hyde would flop like a pancake, but in reality the musical is quite beautiful and enjoyable. Frank Wildhorn's music is always beautiful, but his composition skills shine in this masterpiece of gothic spectacle. Linda Eder's performance is the most memorable and most powerful of her career. The recurring song "Facade" is good almost to the point of catchy. I recommend the movie version too. The Concept Album is always a good version of the soundtrack also. It has the song Bring on the Men sung by Linda Eder: Best. Song. Of. The. Musical.
This musical has had many men in the lead role, but none I've heard is better than this original cast recording. I absolutely love this CD, first hearing a clip of it on a Tony show, losing my copy, and loved this show so much that I was willing to buy it twice. "Good and Evil" gave me chills down my spine the first time I heard it. I highly recommend this musical to those who like the Sondheim musicals and some of the more obscure broadway shows.
