Any book by Janet Evanovich is a good book, so this is running true to form. While Manhunt is not on the level of her Stephanie Plum books, it is one of her earlier products and you can see how she got started and developed her craft. Her ease of readability and conversation makes it able to be finished in just a couple of leisure evenings when you want to get away from all the depressing news that leads every newscast. Her characters are well described and make you wish you were able to handle the situations as well as they do. They make you wish you had the quick wit, the repartee' and the unspoken thoughts that showed a human touch that learned from their questionable decisions that got them into their predicament in the first place. In Manhunt you run into all types of characters, from the sexy leading man to the gruff, grumpy old guys that help move the story along. And it makes you wonder why you always meet the g, g, old guys and never the sexy leading man. This book is enough to make you want to move to Alaska to see if there are such guys still around (sexy, single, lean, muscled, good good looking, funny, bright, rich, sensitive, loving, and on your side of the mountain.) It is a easy, breezy read and helps you to relax and enjoy someone else's life for a change.Read full review
This was a sweet little romantic comedy set in rustic Alaska. Can a city girl become wilderness girl? It was a fun light read, I finished the book in less than 6 hours. Not overly complex. No obsene language or sex. Would recommend, although not a 'deep enough' story for book club reading. Nice book!
My aunt told me about Janet Evanovich's "One For The Money" and "Two For The Dough". She mentioned that Evanovich was from New Jersey and that her stories were based in New Jersey, and since I was a former Jersey chic myself I figure I would give them a try. I loved her Bounty Hunter series books and then I found out she wrote a few other books and decided to read them. Manhunt is a short but sweet book that can be read in one or two days which is great. It had a little bit of suspense and a little bit of romance, but it wasn't overly sexual, just the right touch.
A good read her books can always make me laugh
