Bachmann Ez Track in my opinion is the only way to go. I tore down a 28 foot layout just to install Ez Track. It slides together, locks tight and can be used on about any surface including Carpet. You get a realistic looking roadbed without the fuss and mess of glue and ballast. And it's easy to take back up if need be. 22 inch Radius is a must. Sooner or later you will need a large radius for long locomotives. And the 22 inch radius track will fit perfectly around a smaller 18 inch radius layout. Makes a double oval train layout really easily done. 5-Stars

The EZ track is so good for HO scale trains! Easy to assemble the track, and always a good connection.

When I got an engine that said "best on 22" or greater", I thought maybe it was a suggestion. (spoilers: It was NOT a suggestion) This track did the trick in fixing the issue! Looks like I'll be buying more of it!
