I have tried most of the big brands but I keep coming back to these tubes in my CJ PV12. They are quiet and reliable with top notch sound quality and a relative bargain at the moment.

There was three different construction types on the tubes I received. One was definitely a RFT. Two had tags on the getter support the third one didn't. Since I needed four for my preamp these didn't work. Just added to the collection.

The Tungsram company was based in Hungary and was the European equivalent of General Electric. Like GE, their tubes are respected for their quality workmanship and are relatively rare today. The Tungsram ECC82 / 12AU7 tube is very neutral/natural sounding, it has a extended top end and tight bass. Overall very good tonal balance and clarity. Tungsram ECC82/12AU7 I replaced these tubes in my Atma-Sphere Music Preamplifier 3 (MP-3) and I couldn't believe how different than original (made in China, no brand name) these tubes sounded. The sound described on these pages as neutral is very true. These tubes have very linear and not "tubey" , more like solid state sound with clarity in all frequency spectrum. The bass is very tight and a little dry sounding but this complements soft and bloomy bass (read bloomy and heavy) recordings.Read full review

This is a good tube. I just compared it to 6 other 12Au7s I found it toward the bottom but all were pretty good tubes my notes were a bit thin sounding, light on bass, good on vocals , not to dynamic . That said this always varies from preamp to preamp or amp. I'm using it in a very expensive VAC sigma preamp I shouldn't say this but one of the best 12AU7s I found was the same tube but with the double support bar getter tube looks the same but the double bar getter one sounded much better. So watch what your buying Best for Classical or jazz I would say
