Gaston Leroux wrote a wonderful and an out of the ordinary book that has been picked up and tried to be duplicated by later 'authors' some succeeded in creating a great book, some did not. To my mind this book was one of the successes. The side steps lets the reader go along with the writers imagination but does not attempt to make the reader think that the story line is his creation alone. It is more like his interpenetration of what Leroux would have written were he still here. Having Sherlock Holmes (another favorite of mine) as a part of the story made it doubly entertaining for me. I think that this book is well worth the read. Enjoy!
