Every now and then you run across a little gem. I was expecting a lightweight Encyclopedia. Instead, I found this gem that you can't put down because you want to see what else is in this book. It covers terms, music, history, lore, musicians, and more. However, like all Encyclopedia's, you can quickly look up whatever topic you want in this well organized book. Need I say more.
Although originally written in 1925, it offers much useful information from the origin of the violin, construction, teaching, technique, analysis of works, musical terms and violinists of past ages---some well known, some not. It is a great starting point to providing information on a wonderful instrument!!
Contents of the book are very acurate and organized. A very good method for anyone who wants to find out what stringed instruments are. ***** 5 star recommend~ *****
