I got this disc because I have recently switched from playing drums in a country band back to a blues band (which is my original genre). I needed to get 2 step drumming back in the back seat, and the blues feel back in my heart. Stevie Ray does this for me. I also needed to relate to blues vocals - it is a little different than George Strait. Don't get me wrong, I still love the heart of CW music, but the soul of blues........... Great disc - monster guitar work and heart felt songs - "Life by the Drop" is a good example. Buy it, you'll like it.....
Listening to this masterpiece takes me back in time to a world that had so much less demand on self and much more time to listen to good music! That said, coming into the feel of such a brilliant musician, this time around gives a much more in depth appreciation of the talent that is Stevie Ray. Without doubt, one of the worlds finest guitarists with a 'sound' of his own. Every track takes you on a journey that you don't want to end. I find myself listening to each track several times through before reluctantly moving on to the next, then being captured by the same trap baited with a different banquet of steel string flavour. This album is a 'must listen' and 'must have' for every music loving person on the planet
This is a cd that I had for a long time and loved but lost it during a move so I used ebay to replace it at a low cost. This cd has some great songs on it including Little Wing,an instrumental version of the Jimmy Hendrix tune. This song is pure kick back relax with your eyes closed with your headphones on listening pleasure !!!! Life by the drop tells the story of friendship and its importance. There are some great songs on this disc any SRV fan should have this disc in their collection
