I wanted to read "My Mother, Myself" by Nancy Friday for some time, but it is hard to find in bookstores in my area. When I found it on Ebay, it came with two of her other books so I purchased the lot of them. "My Mother, Myself" was very enlightening. She examines the role our mothers play in forming our ideas of who we want to be as women. The other books that came with the one I wanted were on a very different subject. They were very interesting and frank in their discussion of woman's sexuality and the use of fantasy in our lives, but not of much use to me personally. The author has researched the subject matter quite thoroughly and has used personal experiences of her readers gathered as short narratives to illustrate her points. These other two books are books I would not have purchased by themselves. But "My Mother, Myself" was interesting. It won't change your life but it will make you think about your relationship with your mother in a very different light.Read full review
