please understand when reading this review that i am, essentially, a beginner in the world of fountain pens, and am therefore unfortunately unable to compare this pen to any of the other bigger brands i know of such as lamy, kaweco, pelikan etc. i am only able to review this based on my level of knowledge and just my general thoughts/feelings on it. i do hope to be helpful, nonetheless. this pen, in my opinion, is beautiful. it is iridescent, pulling a lot towards the pink hues, definitely pretty. the pen itself is rather petite, which i know could be an issue for some people. i personally am a fan of the way it feels in my hand both posted and unposted, however i could definitely see in being too small, unposted, for some people’s hands. it is also VERY lightweight, which i personally love, but again this might be of concern for some people. it is made of plastic, but for the fact that this is my first fountain pen over $15, i think this is a really good place to start. the cap is screw on, which i definitely prefer compared to pull-off, and has a clip attached - which is nice. the box it comes in is nothing too special, but it is sturdy and does come with a little padded insert to hold the pen. it also comes with instructions that, although they are entirely japanese, the pictures are fairly good at articulating what you should and should not be doing. it comes with two black ink cartridges, that run almost the entire length of the barrel (i wonder if lamy cartridges would be about the same size) so it’s definitely not your standard sized ink refills, and it also does not come with a converter. it shouldn’t be too hard to get ahold of one of those, though. i wanted to save talking about the nib for last, because it is what surprised me most about this pen. there was only one video review that i could find of this model before purchasing, and i think i remember her saying that the pen was very nice to write with, from the moment you insert the first cartridge. i, however, was a little concerned because everywhere i saw, people were describing the nib as kind of an extra fine, which apparently is equivalent to the japanese MF, or something like that. i thought this may cause it to be a bit scratchy because, again, i have almost zero practice with different nibs, and the finer nibs i’ve tried in my cheap-ass pens, tend to be really scratchy or unusable. my two current fountain pens are a basic-ass manuscript from michaels, and the jane davenport inkredible pen - both of which have served me (fairly) well up until this point. i decided maybe it was time to treat myself to a pen that was just a tad fancier, and i am very glad i did. this pen writes so beautifully and smoothly, and i am extremely satisfied with this purchase. i pulled out a scrap paper, and was expecting to have to do some scratching to get the ink to flow but, as soon as i put it to paper, it was writing perfectly. it blew all of my expectations out of the water and i would definitely look into obtaining another sailor pen in the futureRead full review

I was hesitant to buy a sailor pen because of the feedback their nibs are known for but this one writes nicely out of the box and I love the shimmer the pen body has. Great pen for the price

I wanted to try the Sailor brand without having to pay lots of money for it since I had no idea if I would like it or not. This is a GREAT pen to try! I purchased it over 3 weeks ago and it has become my everyday "go to" pen! It is a bit smaller than other Sailor's but is big enough for most hands while posted. The nib is smooth as butter and I love the weight and feel of the pen. I will be investing in more Sailor pens!
