Myself and my wife loved this book because it is well written and it is a true story. It is very poignant at times but never errs into sentimentality or uses tired stereotypes. It did bring home the harsh reality of war and what happens when things go really badly for our average and above average good guys! Also, we liked the quest for the truth on the part of this bright young boy called Hunter Scott who made everybody proud in not being afraid to take on the all USA Navy, wow! We could go on and on but we are not going to send everyone to sleep with our literary enthusiasm, we are not by any ways or means trying to pass ourselves as professional critics! We only would like to say: if you can, read this book, you will not regret it and will be enriched by the experience, incidentally if you can watch the film also," Mission of the Shark", starring among others, the splendid Stacy Keach, you will love it, it is a very good rendering of the doomed fate of the glorious Indianapolis and its crew. We didn't dislike anything about the book, it wasn't overlong and got straight to the point!Read full review
