Excellent lighter for pipes. I have a silver one also. You can purchase a zippo butane insert also for about $10 to make it easier to refill. I have both methods of refilling; butane and regular lighter fluid. You will like it either way.

It gives out a large, passive flame that's windproof, and with the sideways hold I don't burn the pipe's rim. Perfect! Easy to keep in good working order with a package of flints and wicks, although the wicks last a long time. It works so well, I've never felt the need to get a higher end lighter. Some say naptha (Zippo / Ronsonol) imparts an off-taste to the tobacco, and you should only use butane - preferably high end butane, at that. I don't agree. The 2 seconds it takes to put flame to pipe burns off the raw fuel. Everything else is just showing off or snobbery. And who doesn't love the "click"? Even at home, I'll tend to use the Zippo before reaching for the wooden matches. It's just easier. The value can't be beat, the price is low enough that I have 3 Zippos just to have extras.Read full review

Quick response to order, received it in record time. LOVE IT, lights every time on the first try. Much more reliable than the butane lighter I was using before and cost a whole lot less.

This is a very good design for lighting tobacco smoking pipes. It allows the lighter to be held in the best position to get the light without burning the pipe.
