Basil Rathbone completely sells the serial killer role here. You have to stick with this one for the first half of the film, which is actually quite slow. After Carol, the main character, wins the lottery though, it goes sharply downhill (for her at least). Basil sweeps in and seduces her into a quick marriage. Then you learn he's killed his three previous wives and is out to make Carol the fourth. There's some real mayhem as he and Carol duel it out in the end. This is probably my favorite Rathbone film, and is almost completely unknown.
Hi: I haven't watched the video yet, but I skimmed through it in fast forward mode and it seemed OK. This movie was one of a variety I purchased and decided to watch over the Christmas, and New Year holiday season. I hope to find it entertaining, and will update my review if I find any problems. For now, based on popular opinion, I'll consider it to be an excellent film until further notice. If there's no update to the contrary, all of the above are true, the same is true of the aforementioned other films. VE
Overacting, exaggerated.

I am such a fan of Ann Harding, that anything she does is wonderful. Basil Rathbone is so sinister. Grainy because film was in that day. Great movie. Several remakes but this one stands out because of Ann Harding.
Basil Rathbone plays an excellant part in this movie. He marries a woman who wins a lottery, but soon after the marriage the wife begins to see a darker side of her husband. Lots of suspense.
