Dieting can be a real pain when you have to cook for a family who won't eat your diet food. :) I purchased Devin's book "The Most Decadent Diet Ever" and was hooked. Everyone who has tried anything I've cooked in the book LOVED it from decadent chocolate cakes, to mini cheesecakes, Salads, side dishes, entrees...IT's a lot easier when everyone is eating the same thing. Easier on the budget as well the cook's time and efforts. I was really happy to see this family edition of the Biggest Loser Cookbook as I've come to trust Devin's recipes to be tasty and healthy. The recipes are simple and easy to follow and Devin suggests alternatives for out of season fruits and veggies, or other seasonal items a recipe might call for. There are plenty of recipes included so there are sure to be several that will appeal to your family. The book is also budget minded and that's a big help. I'm still partial to "The Most Decadent Diet Ever" and "Fast Food Fix" will always be one of my most used cookbooks (the "fried" food recipes were a godsend to this Texas "Deep fat fried" everything family! Hard to stick to a diet when you have to give up ALL your favorite foods! I also really love the Pizza Hutt Meat Lover's Pizza recipe...so nice to have pizza again that works in my diet again!! Devin has been responsible for my hubbys 40 pound weight loss (I'm lagging behind at 7 pounds, but I quit smoking at the same time so I'm just happy to have a weight LOSS and not a weight GAIN!)THere are several recipes in the book that are delicious and several others I plan to try out on the grandkids next time they stay with me. When the book arrived at my home I looked through it to assure it would be a great gift for my mother. The recipes looked tasty and easy. The reason I decided to purchase this book was due to my mother asking for a new cookbook on her Christmas wish list. When I saw this cookbook online I knew she would enjoy it b/c our family members are fans of the Biggest Loser television show. I am not sure whether she has tried any of the recipes yet but I do know that she was pleased when she looked through it as well!
I love the simplicity of the recipes, there are tons of money saving and time saving tips throughout the book. I am a very experienced cook but, this book would be great for beginners as well as people very comfortable in the kitchen. It gives great, healthy alternatives to foods that we eat everyday. These recipes are definetly easy enough that I could involve my 3 year old and 4 year old in preparing these dishes-which I have found makes it easier to get them to eat new foods. Very reasonable price and worth every penny.
I've bought cookbooks before only to watch them collect dust on the shelf. I am NOT a chef. This cookbook contains practical everyday absolutely delicious recipes with basically what you have in your cupboard. I found the recipes simple to prepare and, with the calories, fat, fiber, etc. provided, I am able to make good choices amongst a wide variety of great tasting recipes that my children also love (the Meatball Subs are phenomenal!!) I was very pleasantly surprised. A must have for anyone who wants to lose weight or just eat healthy, delicious meals.
This cookbook has great recipes; they are easy, cheap, and tasty! I got this cookbook from the library to check it out. My husband liked almost every recipe. So I decided that we should buy it. Usually I can only get him to eat a few recipes out of cookbooks. I also like the section at the beginning of the book; it has each food group, ways to cut corners with food, looking at labels, etc.
