Forget about your political affiliation. Forget about Democrats and Republicans. This book is about the love and devotion of a son to his mother. Because the words are heartfelt, this book comes alive with memories President Carter holds dear of his mother, known to us all as Miss Lillian. Most of us will never have the opportunity to write and publish a book about our own mother, but there are many things in this book that I can relate to and find comfort in. The book is a must read for anyone who has or had a loving and devoted mother or mother figure. It takes you on the serious side as well as lighthearted moments. As always, President Carter is candid in relating his early years - the good and the not so good. As Carter enters his twilight years - he is nearing the age of Miss Lillian when she passed away - I think he speaks more often of her, sometimes even getting emotional and teary-eyed. Any book about a woman who gave birth to a son who who would grow up to be President of the United States of America should be read.Read full review
