Well made head but came with a thick edge profile. Took some time with file and stones to thin it down and put a good usable edge on it .The head has considerable weight compared to other hawks so you can really wail into some wood with it. Came with a solid hickory handle which I did refit the head to for a super tight fit and then used some rubber electrical insulation wrap to thicken 2/3 rds of the handle area for a grip more to my liking. I like it a lot. Its got enough heft and blade width to it to really do work with whether your chopping wood or driving nails. I would have given it 5 stars if the blade edge profile had been better out of the box but it is fixable with a little elbow grease. Don't know about throwing it as I bought mine to use as a tool. Should last you a lifetime with normal care.Read full review

Badass looking piece, garbage quality. Head broke off and would not stay on the top of the handle after under 2 minutes of chopping camp firewood, had to resort to my backup from my card emergency kit. Does not come sharp either. Unless your going to a mountain man re-enactment in which you won’t be pulling it from your belt or decorating your house with it go to the 50 other decent tomahawk brands on this site instead of this waste of $24

Have a Trail, gave a Pipe to my son and wanted something a little beefier for packing and shelter construction. This pushes the limit as to what can be considered a hawk, more like a heavy hatchet. Maybe I was spoiled by my Trail's featherweight nimbleness. Plan on stripping that nasty paint off as usual and grinding off a few strategic ounces to bring it down to fighting trim. PS: Some ham-fist in China spun the set-screw past the threads and into the handle. Good thing the head/handle were a crappy fit since I now have to replace it. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Sold at a high premium because of scarcity. Does not come in Cold Steel Packaging and sheath is not included. The finish does not have the heavy lacquer but a forced patina. The hardened edge is clearly distinguishable by discoloration. You may do better to wait for Cold Steel or big box retailer like Smokey Mountain to get it back into inventory... you will pay less.

Although the handle is a tad bit long, the weight is good for chopping and the hammer end is the ticket for stakes. At this price, one can't go wrong.
