Seventy years later, this book is still a hilarious look at some of the more famous people in history. And the illustrations by William Steig are also delightful. This book would make a great holiday present for any history buff.

A million years ago when I was in college (1961), I had to take History my freshman year. I flunked it!!! Second time through the Prof was a "young guy" (probably 30) who kept the class in stitches most of the time with hilarious one-liners about the haistorical figures we were learning about. After a couple of weeks I went to him after class and asked him where he got all the humor. He reached in his briefcase and pulled out his copy of "The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody" by Will Cuppy. I went to the bookstore and bought a copy. I got an A in History that time, and I've loved History ever since! I put my copy in the bathroom when my kids were growing up, and every one of them likes History!!! Four out of Four! I bought this copy for my Grandson, who is in College!
