Quite probably the finest and most intense crime/gangster film ever produced. Loosely based upon organized crime history, closely resembling the infamous Gambino Crime Family of New York, the movie narrates the actions of the Corleone Family. Beginning with Godfather Vito Corleone in 1945, through his attempted assassination, and the subsequent killing of his would be assassins by Michael Corleone, his youngest son and war hero. Michael travels to Italy to hide. Santino Corleone, Vito's oldest son, Michael's brother, Takes over the family and is shot and killed. Michael returns and eventually takes over after his fathers death. This film is impossible to adequately describe. It is a film epic - almost a historical documentary. It is pure action and a riveting story, possibly one of the best films ever made. You cannot not like this film!Read full review
I consider The Godfather and The Godfather II one film. The first time I saw them, I saw them back-to-back. If this is the case for you, I'm sure you feel the same way. Together or separate, in my opinion, their either the greatest film, or the greatest two films in the history of motion pictures. I like this particular version/disk and plan on getting the sequel (the other half...) in the same format. By this I mean that I like letterboxed versions of films the way they were when originally released. I hate extended versions, director cuts, special edition, blah blah blahs, etc. etc. I especially hate 2-disk sets where the second disk is nothing but a bunch of crap that wouldn't sell on its own, so it's packaged with the film to bring a higher price. This disk may have special features, if so I have ignored them and just watched the film.Read full review

One of the greatest movies of all time, even after nearly 50 years! This one was so far ahead of its time it's just incredible. I actually like part 2 even better, but part 3 not so much. A good ending to an epic series tho. Everyone should see The Godfather!

The Godfather Films was the first movies I watched as a kid..I loved them then and I still love them now..Marlon Brando plays Godfather Corleone as he grooms his oldest Son Sonny to take over the business he proudly shows off his youngest son Michael played by a very young Al Pacino who chooses to steer clear of the family business however when Sonny is murdered Micheal is called in to save the Family honor..his son being brought into the fold breaks the Godfathers heart..no wonder this great film won so many awards and rave reviews a not to be missed timeless treasure..5 out of 5 bars!
