W.E.B. Griffin has been called the poet laureate of the American Military. His stories about soldiers contain historical facts interspace with well thought out fiction. His original Brotherhood of War series was only 3 volumes, but was brought back time and time again eventually ending with this volume written almost 20 years after the original book, "The Lieutenants." As a former Army NCO I recieved the 5th volume (of nine)in this set when I was recovering from injuries recieved in Grenada. It was a fitting present and I fell in love with his story telling. I have since bought many of his books this was the last of the Brotherhood of War series and it was like bidding adieu to an old friend.
Special Ops appears to be written by WEB Griffin. On par with the rest of the Brotherhood of War series. It extends the arc of Jacques Portet and Father Lundsford and Johnny Oliver. The usual characters also show up. (Bellmon, Lowell, Graig, Felter, Hanrahan, etc.)
