One of the first CD formats that I purchased back in the 1980's and the quality of the format and music has stood the test of time. This is really a great crossover album for John Mellencamp in so many ways. It was the first where he fully reclaimed his Mellencamp surname, dropping the studio imposed "John Cougar". The music speaks for itself, with a rock and blues type feel with a fast pace. Hits like Paper in Fire and Cherry Bomb are now rock benchmarks, but for me, it's the seldom heard last 2 tracks. Hot Dogs and Hamburgers and Rooty toot toot, that highlight his poetic genius. This is one music CD I'll never part with. Check it out.
I’m so excited to replace this CD. It’s simply one of his finest! I’m rockin’ out in my beater commuter car with the CD player. Yeah!

I am not a big fan of Mellencamp, but I have heard this cd for years and never knew it was him. It is a great summary of songs with the Louisiana musical tone. It is a great cd and would recommend it to anyone whether you consider yourself a fan or not. This is a great one.
Extremely happy this first pressing popped up at a great price. Glad I ordered it. Reliving a youth gone by in Indiana.
