I am in the process of collecting as many films from the golden era of Hollywood and the collection has to start with the great Bogart, Powell and Mitchum flicks from the 40's. Across the Pacific is part spy drama, part pure mystery and part patriotic propaganda all rolled into 98 minutes of nail bitting fun. Bogarts next film was Casablanca, and you can see his Rick Blane persona all over this part. Mary Astor plays a mysterious woman who's on the same ship with Bogie and you never can tell if she's mixed up in all the intrigue or if she is just an innocent bystander. Sydney Greenstreet plays his typical sleezball (remember his part in Maltese Falcon and his humman trafficing club owner in Casablanca) Well he seems to be a natural for this kind of role. If you love classic cinema and Bogart...Buy this one soon. Marty C. 01/14/2011Read full review
