Abraham Lincoln and the Road to Emancipation by William
I've read many books about this time period, but I was very impressed on how the author was able to stay focused on the topic, and the progression of emancipation. Although some history facts are shared, they are all tied into their impact on emancipation, and how emancipation then shaped the war effort. An easy to read book that flows well with wonderful insights into the war from the political side, both north and south. I strongly recommend the book.
