Cross Bones by Kathy Reichs was a fascinating novel! Based on her experience as a Forensic Anthropologist and woven into some very, very fascinating real life failures (or intentionally covered up facts) of a noted archeologist that actually occurred during his exploration of the Masada site where a handful of Jewish defenders defied the Roman soldiers who, in 70 BCE, laid siege to and built a ramp up to the top of the Masada Plateau. It was completed in 73 BCE. They found that the Masada defenders had killed themselves! The Romans found no one alive! This is Historical fiction at its best! An actual historical fact, skillfully interwoven with an incredible detective story line! (Note: BCE and CE, 'Before Common Era' and 'Common Era' are used in place of BC and AD in almost all scientific historical writing)Read full review

Love books written by this author. All stories are told with humor and enjoyable reading. Always a good read!
I love the Kathy Reichs books. This was one of the books that I needed. All of Kathy Reichs books are unlike any others that I have read, she is not afraid to put detail in her books. That's a great quality about her books. I would not recommend these books to some one that does not have a strong stomach.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as some of Kathy Reichs others. At times the technical jargon is hard to follow. The dialog is also hard to follow sometimes (i.e. who said what). The story wasn't quite as gripping as her other books have been, but it is still a good read.
I love reading her books. I have been on a buying binge of her books on ebay. this book had a good story, I loved reading about Israel and the land. I found some of the ideas in the book disturbing and was uncomfortable reading some of it as it questioned Christ's death and resurrection and ascension, but the story line was good.
