I bought this book because I have a few, newer Limoges boxes and wanted to learn more about them, in particular, and Limoges china, in general. There isn't really anything about this book that I dislike. It has a chapter on the history of Limoges and its factories, including a map of the region. The "Photo Journal" chapter shows many wonderful examples of Limoges boxes and includes a value guide. The chapter on fabrication is interesting and helps in learning about porcelain. The part that focuses on fake versus real Limoges was very helpful and the same was true reading about transfers versus handpainting and how to tell one from the other. There are other little tidbits in this book that add to ones knowledge of Limoges and porcelain. If you're a collector of Limoges, I think you'll find this book invaluable. Faye Strumpf seems know her subject well and to have done quite a bit of research. Her tiny bio on the book's jacket says she also lectures on the subject about which she's written.Read full review

The book is very helful in understand Limoges boxes signatures, regions and what various terms mean. Other than that, pictures of various limoges boxes at a cursory level and of course the Obsolesces of the prices. Great Primer is the best way to evaluate this publication.
Wow, this book is FULL of amazing Limoges whether old or new. It is informative and gives information that I never knew. I know this is brief but I'm sure others will agree with me and would be happy purchasing the book.
