This is a very "Up close and Personal Movie". If you are a Robert Redford fan, this is classic Redford. He is the news director of a Miami TV station and has a new intern named Sally, who in a misprint, is introduced as Tally Atwater (Michelle Pfieffer). She has no talent, but through the expert molding of Redford, who's fabled career includes former White House correspondent, she quickly learns the trade and rockets to the top as a genuine talent. She and Redford begin a relationship, but when her new-found talents are recognized, she moves on to a larger market in Philadelphia. Her career begins to tank after her move as she constantly must dodge barbs from another veteran newscaster who refuses to give up the lead spot and viciously defends her position as number one. Redford shows up long enough to inspire her and motivate her to keep fighting. Love blossoms and they begin a new career together. Her career blossom as she finds herself in the national spotlight after covering a harrowing prison riot from inside the prison. This further elevates her career to a national network position. The two continue their dynamic rise to fame. This all ends when Redford is killed while covering a news story. This is a very emotionally charged movie, and a true love story hat is sure to please all audiences.Read full review
