I think the casting works well. The interactions of each is allowed to progress & show both the qualities as well as the flaws of that person. Each character has been portrayed showing their strenghts as well as their weakness & a realistic approach of dealing with them. The intelligence of a character & the difficulties of that gift have both been used to create Charles. His compulsion to solve, his insecurities of that gift, the bond & fragility of his relationship with his brother, & the normal problems of a relationship have been well rounded. Although this character is the focal point of the series each character has been developed both in connection with this character & on a seperate level with some outside issues brought foward from each. This is a unique series & it keeps bringing the watcher back to see where it will lead to next. I will continue to follow & enjoy going back to rewatch a show because I constantly pick up some little tidbit I previously missed.Read full review
Second season is more "hip-and-gloss" with less convincing characters and more vague approaches to crime-solving. It's ok viewing once, but season one is worth viewing again. I don't think I will try season three.

My son and I are in love with this series! Wonderful characters, and lots of human interest and police/forensics to the plot line, with just a dash of how math saves the day. Explanations are short and sweet and don’t bog down the plot. So glad we found this series!!

I always enjoyed crime shows featuring people who use special and realistic talents to fight crime. I have an average understanding of math but the show was made so that the average person would have no trouble understanding what Charlie was talking about. Excellent plot and character development.
I absolutely love Numb3rs. I highly recommend it to everyone. The show is addictive and keeps you hooked with entertaining plot lines. I didn't think I would enjoy it because like a majority of people out there I don't like math that much. I really did though and even if you can't follow what they are describing math-wise the crime, family drama, and love/hate interest keep you in your chair. Plus if you don't understand and only keep watching for the non-math stuff people will see you watching... think that you understand and automatically think you are really intelligent. So its a win-win situation! Go out and buy/rent it. It's worth it.
