This book has very good background stories on the persons interviewed, it describes their training experiences with the weapons of the time. In 1986 I interviewed several veterans of the WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars, one of their favorite weapons was the M3A1 submachine gun which was preferred due to its slow rate of fire (preferred point weapon in the early days of Vietnam). They were also in agreement with the 57mm recoiless rifle which was a great "bunker buster".
