This is an amazing, creative, imaginative book. I read it as a teenager and loved it. I fell in love with the setting, the characters, and especially the horses. I had already been a fan of the Black Stallion series before reading this story, but I loved this one even more than the stories about "The Black". I think this is because the setting of the story is so intriguing. Most of the story takes place on Azul Island, a remote island that appears to be not much more than a little stetch of beach and a massive hunk of rock. However, Steve Duncan and his friend Pitch discover that there is much more to Azul Island than that; they find that the island has an interior, apparently first discovered by the Conquistadores and long forgotton. And there in the interior of the island is where they find Flame, the Island Stallion... An excellent book! Highly recommended!Read full review
