This is one of those horror movies you might remember causing some controversy back in the 80's. The premise being a little boy witnessed his parents being murdered by a man dressed in a Santa suit, while his baby brother sat crying. Years later, after being raised in a strict orphanage (while being tormented by "Mother Superior," remember - NAUGHTY!) the boy grows up and tries to live a normal life. All is fine until he is asked by his employer to dress up as Santa for their annual Christmas celebration (he works at a toy store). That set him off on a killing spree which brings plenty of blood and gratuitous nudity (a staple of horror films from the 80's). One of the highlights being a teenage girl (topless, of course) being impaled on deer antlers. The first movie definitely has its share of cheesy dialog and plenty of "how could you not see that coming?" moments. However it has aged quite well over 20 plus years and with the inclusion of uncut, never-before-seen fotage, the first movie maintains that feel I remember as a kid. The sequel, on the other hand, doesn't fair as well. Released in the mid-to-late 80's, basically consisted of a rehash from the first movie. The younger brother (from the original) sees his Santa clad sibling killed off at the end of part one. He then, as an adult, picks up where his brother had left off. Featuring more of the same, blood and inventive kills mixed with plenty of nudity, one third of the sequel has flashbacks from the original movie. It's still fun to watch and continues the saga quite nicley, unfortunately not as original as the first. The extras on the dvd package provide some insight to the controversy surrounded with the release of the first movie and some interesting commentaries from the creators. This release (which is now out of print) is the only way you can see part 2 on dvd (the only "true" sequel in the series of 5 films). The picture quality is suprisingly nice, considering its age and lack of studio support. Also included in the package is an insert that provides further info regarding the making of the film. By far not the best horror movie ever made, but still a real fun time if your looking for a "holiday-horror" movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. There don't seem to be many out there like that, so this could quite possibly fit the bill.Read full review
I have always liked this movie even though it was a lot-budget horror film that was plauged with a lot of controversy due to the fact it had to do with a "killer Santa Clause" even though it wasn't really him just a man dressed up as him.It had some decent acting in it and had a bit of a riveting story behind it.One of my favorites.

Anyone sitting down to watch this movie expecting some work of artistic genius will obviously be disappointed, but they're an idiot for having such expectations in the first place. I thought the movie was a perfect, dumb, entertaining slasher movie. There were great kills, gratuitous T&A, and a generally good time. If the idea of watching a guy in a santa suit run around town saying "punish" in a stupid voice and pwning random people left and right sounds like fun to you, you'll enjoy this flick.
