I love the pictures in this. They're so pretty and well thought out. My favorite feature was the animated bird. The would be a slightly different bird on several pages and if you flipped through the pages, the bird looked as if it was flying. It's set up in several different sections and to me it seems very complete for those that are just beginning to learn. It doesn't have a ton of superfluous info crammed in. My little guy loves looking at this book and he has already learned so much without him even realizing it. :D
Suitable for readers, not prereaders, this attractively illustrated book has not only information, but "find it" in the picture games. Children will be able to refer to this book throughout later grammar school and possibly junior high. Fully recommended.

I had this book several years ago as part of a curriculum. We are no longer using the curriculum and I missed having this book for my other children. I liked it so much I bought a second copy. It does a through job of explaining nature to the early years child. The illustrations are a real asset. Great addition to any early years science program or nature study.
Thank you! Great price and in really good shape for being used.

I bought this after seeing a copy in a local nature store. It is a nice introduction for younger elementary aged students on the natural world (birds, trees, flowers, butterflies, fishes, creepy crawlies and wild animals). Usborne always does a fantastic job of concisely presenting information in a fun and engaging way. The illustrations are simply beautiful.
