If you were a fan of the computer game you may enjoy this for all the excellent minis, at the very least. They are nicely sculptured and there are lots of them! However, the game is remarkably good as a boardgame in its own right. It can play up to six players - 2 human, 2 zerg and 2 protoss. I especially like the way that each player faction has a unique victory condition. It really produces some surprising results sometimes and forces the players to keep a close eye on their neighbours. Players are encouraged to hang on until the very end to see if they can steal or sneak an unexpected victory. It makes for very exciting end games! It has a very nice production with cards, miniatures and numerous card board cut-outs for planets, faction boards, and more. I recommend you play it on a black cloth or star map if you have one. The combat system is good - relying on how you play your cards (resources) rather than dice throws. I recommend you use a large table for the map and the many bits and pieces to set up around it. Enjoy!Read full review
StarCraft the Board Game is a faithful and compelling re-working of the popular PC game. Hundreds of high-quality components, faithful artwork and characters and interesting strategies make this a great game for StarCraft fans. Choose from 3 totally unique races and wage war against up to 5 of your friends. This is a very complex game. Sorting all the parts, punching all the counters, reading the rules and (finally!) learning to play requires many hours (two entire days, in my case), but I feel it's a worthwhile investment. There are a couple of downsides: there are no trays or other means of sorting the many components, so to make the game playable, you really need to provide your own system for sorting the parts. Otherwise, you'll spend too much time hunting for the piece you need and the game will grind to a halt. And this is a game best intended for those familiar with the Starcraft franchise, so some of the concepts and terminology might be too much to swallow for the uninitiated. But if you love elaborate board games with tons of beautifully made components and you do know the difference between an Ultralisk and a Hydralisk, then this is a game worth adding to your collection.Read full review

The game is real fun, and requires a enjoyable amount of strategy. Anyone who is a Starcraft fan and enjoys a good board game should look in to getting this game. I hope they make a version based off of Starcraft II.
