Rihanna, with her islands sweetness and distinctive style, definitely gets my vote as one of the best new artists of 2005. Blending numerous influences into a breezy, fun sound Rihanna has a gorgeous voice. Opening with the first single "Pon De Replay" she shows an undeniable presence. One of the nice things about Rihanna is she is equally at home on the ballads. Even the cutesy "There's a Thug In My Life" becomes enjoyable with her sweet voice giving it life. This is definitely a 2005 highlight.
Music of the Sun is Rihanna's debut album, featuring the hit single Pon De Replay. As a whole, the album is not as solid as her latter albums, but it is listenable. There is a lot of Reggae sounding songs, not really my cup of tea, but they are not horrible songs, if you're into that. I bought this cd simply to complete my Rihanna discography.
I love all her music & needed this album to complete my collection. Love her young voice on this album.

Rihanna is a great singer. She is in my top three favorite singers. Ashanti is currently my favorite, but Rihanna is great. It would be great if Ashanti and Rihanna could team up. Music of the Sun is a must have CD.
