This book is a very interesting read about the 9th Texas Cavalry (volunteers from NE Texas) involvement in the US Civil War. Instead of concentrating on the "US & CSA leaders??" (many of who were incompetent generals that were appointed by political friendship or bribery); it deals mainly with the common soldier's view of battles, hardships of men and horses, etc. The book was researched very thoroughly thru official documents, soldiers letters, and soldiers diaries. I am a Civil War buff and have read a number of books on the Civil War; this is one of the few books that I did not want to put down.
