I bought this book becuase it is on my son's 6th grade reading list for school. He will not be reading it. I was not only surprised at how many curse words were in the book, but that it is a Newberry Honor Book. Towards the end of the book every other page has a curse word. The majority of the time, it was a certain person cursing and it was just everyday talk. It's a shame, because the story itself is pretty interesting. The story is about 2 sisters who end up hiding with a family for 2 1/2 years, and their struggle to stay hidden and how they occupy themselves. There is not much suspense, since most of the time they just sit around upstairs. The book is told from the younger sisters view and about how frustrated she feels. I would recommend The Diary Of Anne Frank or even Number the Stars. I would not reccomend this book for anyone under the age of 15.Read full review
