Drawing on several first-hand accounts from the soldiers (reading their letters home) this offers a good insight into the personal side of it,instead of the battles and tactics. I enjoy getting up close and examining the weapons and equipment used (such as the actual drum that a drummer used with personal stuff found inside of it). Being familiar with the regimental and national colors ,which the color guard carried, I was interested to hear the make-up and info. onthe color guard of a Federal regt. of that period. Personally, I enjoyed the letters that tied into personal histories better on the "Confederate-Civil War Minutes" better, but this is the mate to that and I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoyed the "Gettysburg"(1993) movie or Andersonville" (Ted Turner) film; not just re-enactors.Read full review

Great Stories About Civil War Would Recomend to Anyone. Also there are a few sections that explain the use proper use of different types of Civil War equipment. For reenactors that are first starting out it has some great information on the proper use of the equipment.
This Civil War Minutes discusses the life of the soldier on and off the battle field. A reenactor reads letters discussing camp life, battles, the wounded, dying, and the dead. Some letters from home are also read. The reenactor also discusses the soldier's uniforms, knapsacks, and weapons. VERY INFORMATIVE.
I bought this for my husband who loves civil war, he hasn't watched it yet but can hardly wait to the weekend to come. These dvds came very prompt and the buying and bidding went very good. I am well satisfied with my purchace and I really hope that he will be to.
