Really a good quality dvd, even better than the VHS version. The menus are fine. The entire 30min show is included with the precut leads for commercials. As far as George of the Jungle is concerned, the cartoon is one of the best examples of the production houses outside of the bigger players. But the writing and cast are very sharp and well written. Much of the content is geared toward adults, with jokes kids wouldnt catch. All very clean, no innuendos, etc. There is enough programming on the two dvds to keep you smiling for hours and hours. My personal favorite is actually SuperChicken, whose line "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it," is a staple in my life, as well as the SuperChicken battle cry as a ringtone. For a few dollars you cant go wrong.
"The original 'George Of The Jungle' television series from the late 60s finally has been released onto DVD, and I would say it is about time. What a show this is. From the opening jungle drums to the final tree crash, this show is still a real blast. Even better is the fact that each episode also comes with the adventures of 'Super Chicken' AND 'Tom Slick'. Talk about a funny trio. George never looked better. Kudos to Brendan Fraser for his portrayal in the 1997 feature film, live-action adaptation version; that one was a lot of fun. But, it is this original show that still remains the best one. I enjoyed being able to watch these 17 episodes all over again after a long time of not seeing them on television for many years. I had almost forgotten how much fun they really were. It was like pulling an old favorite toy you enjoyed as a kid from your closet and dusting it off once again. No doubt, this original series totally outclasses the newer version being show on Cartoon Network. You won't find Super Chicken and Tom Slick in that one. Having this unique series available in my DVD collection takes me back to my childhood on Saturday mornings. The only thing missing is my three-legged stool I would sit on to watch the show."Read full review
What's the best thing about the collected "George of the Jungle"? The song, of course! "George! George! George of the Jungle! Strong as he can be..." What's the worst thing about the DVD set? Unfortunately, also the song! "George! George! George of the Jungle! Watch out for that tree..." The problem is that, like the Saturday morning cartoon show, "George! George! George of the Jungle! Lives a life that's free...", the DVD includes not only the song, "When he gets in a scrape... he makes his escape... with the help of his friend... an ape named Ape", BUT ALSO ALL THE REPEATS!!! If you watch a single show, this is not too bad, "Then away he'll schlep... on his elephant Shep... while Fella and Ursula... stay in step with...", but if you watch all of a DVD at one sitting, you get, "George! George! George of the Jungle! Friend to you and me... Watch out for that tree!" bombarded with, "Watch out for that tree... Watch out for that (Ahhh) (Oooh) tree." (BAH BOOM BOOM!!!) Just as funny as I remembered. Made by the same people that gave us Rocky & Bullwinkle. Each episode also has a Tom Slick cartoon and (my favorite part of the show) a Super-Chicken cartoon. That's really why I bought the DVD set. He's maybe the most inept and incompetent superhero ever. It's hysterical. The set was a little pricey, but worth every cent! I'm so glad I splurged for it.

What a flash of nostalgia, and it stands the test of time. As an adult, I still laugh and find new appreciation for this great animated program. My only complaint is that I can't seem to get the theme songs for George of the Jungle and Super Chicken out of my head.
