SPOILER ALERT!Josh is a high school guy who lives with adoptive parents and is involved in little crimes with his friends (including young lesbian Bella). Suddenly his elder brother Walter comes out of the blue (he left home 10 years ago when he was 18 and was never heard during these years). After that Walter starts to involve Josh in various new criminal activities, including robbery. SPOILER ALERT OVER!In the beginning, the only things that kept me searching for this film for over nine years were two things: 1) Fairuza Balk, and Mary-Louise Parker make excellent performances and outstanding plot contributions to the film. And 2) I saw parts of this when I was staying at a hotel when I was getting ready to ship out and join the U.S. Army and because of that I did not get to see the ending for years. Seeing Fairuza Balk and Mary-Louise Parker in that film gave me a pleasant memory to hold onto for alot of nights in basic training. Michael Madsen, famous for his portrayal of Mr. Blonde in "Reservoir Dogs" also make an outstanding performance and brings a lot of grit to an already outstanding storyline. Finding a copy of the film was very difficult and took a lot of time and searching before I found it and its name which I did not originally have on the internet. Some people had heard of it, but it was still a long search trying to locate a copy in any format and before that its name. When I got my first laptop and discovered IMDB I was finally able to get somewhere in acquiring a copy for my own collection. It has a very good performance by Rhys Meyers (as he spelled it for this film) in it, who is always nice to look at. I am not into guys, but he has made some good performances and stands out a respectable and eclectic actor in my mind, showing the world through the years his strengths as an actor as well as his broad abilities as an actor that he has brought to the screen in a wide variety of films. There is a good premise for an interesting film and story, good continuity and plot development to keep any viewer interested and engaged. There were a number of subplots and minor characters also that really did add a lot of value to the story. I think that if you are a fan of Fairuza Balk, Mary-Louise Parker, Michael Madsen, Jonathan Rhys-Myers or Matthew Modine, you will want to see the film in order to get to see them in an unreleased-for-theaters film that is really top notch. I saw it for the first time while in a Ramada Inn on as I said right before I enlisted, and saw more pieces, but not the entire show, three other times when I took leave but still was not able to find the name for many years. It was enough through the years though to continue the search for this elusive title, and after seeing bits and pieces three different times at various hotels, I finally found this copy on VHS from a video store that was going out of business. I liked it so much that when I found a copy on Ebay a few weeks later I snapped it up. If you're planning to enjoy looking at Rhys-Myers' skin, you can do a lot better with some of his other work, but don't let that stop you as the plot is fantastic and you will get to see Fairuza Balk Soaking wet and laughing in a shower scene. Also the somewhat strange and almost dream like romance between Parker and Rhys-Meyers is almost hypnotic. Like "Tangled" it is an excellent film, even though you won't see him drop his pants in this one, give it a watch and I promise you will not be dissapointed.Read full review
Great acting, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Matthew Mondine have great on screen camaraderie. Very worthy take on a genre that is done to death. Interesting side characters as well.
