I have been collecting Harry Potter Collectibles since they hit the market about 7 years ago. If I were to recommend one book about Harry Potter Collectibles it would be this one ! The information that you will find in this paperback book you can't find anywhere else at any price. This book would be extremely helpful to new or old Harry Potter Collectors. Most collector's have no idea what the First Harry Potter Collectibles are so they don't know what to buy. This book has information on First Edition Collectibles from Enesco, Department 56 & The Warner Brothers Stores which had collectibles that were made for & only sold at the WB Stores. If you want to buy 1st Edition Harry Potter Collectibles at bargain prices & be able to see pictures too so you know what they look like this is a MUST HAVE BOOK ! The First Edition Harry Potter Collectibles are quality made, well worth looking for & in many cases bargain priced. Buy the book & take a little time with your children to look through it. Read about the different collectibles, look at the pictures & then browse on Ebay together to see what treasures you might find. You can have quality made HP Collectibles at bargain prices before everyone finds out about this interesting little book. The added bonus is the price. You can buy it on Ebay for $6-$10 & that includes shipping ! This book only has early 1st Edition Collectibles ! It does not have the Action Figures, Collector's Cards or a listing of the 300 different $2 Harry Potter Watches that proliferate Department Stores, Cereal Boxes & Garbage cans across America.Read full review
This is the only description list/price list/non-fiction summary of the Harry Potter phenomena and it's product lines. However, it came out so close to the introduction of the first product lines that it is extremely limited in its use as a price list or product overview. It's fun to see some of the first Enesco products, but does not touch on any of the action figures, and later accessory items. Good piece of memorabilia for the collector, but not so good for up-to-date reference.
I bought it because I am a huge fan of Harry Potter and have a lot of collectibles. I wanted to know what else was out there, what I could expect to pay for them and what any duplicates I had might be worth. I like the fact it is divided into categories and includes pictures and descriptions as well as manufacturer's names. Because it was published in 2000 it is far from complete, as many new items have come onto the market since then. However, it is good for the beginner, or for the individual who prefers to collect only the earliest items from the Harry Potter universe. rowantree
